Dear Family and friends,
I have been a little remiss keeping up on John' health.
Christmas was joyous with calls from Istanbul (Anne) and England (Charlotte and family) and the visit of Jane and her two little boys, 3 almost 5.
They visited for a couple of days and then were off to Disney world and Sanibel and then back to us. Jane was sick on arrival so the little boys were all mine!!! Needless to say I rose to the occasion and now know every playground on SSI! I also know that you can't buy individual donuts on the island. Take that back-if the case is open at Winn they do have them by ones!
John was delighted with the little boys. They all light up to see one another. So cute. He was the chief reader. One of the boys always had a book in his hand when John was around-and John always obliged. He ws left with them while I took Jane to the Medical Walk-in on the island. When I came back he told me everything had gone fine-including feeding them coffee ice cream and chocolate sauce at 10:30 AM!
But John is having a tough time. He has lost more weight and lacks energy. He naps sometimes 2 x day and doesn't feel energized. His peripheral neuropathy is causing excruciating pain thus making it very painful to stand/walk. And he knows he is very slow at everything. His mind is fine!!!
I am taking a crash course in slowing down and Patience!
I suspect that the cancer is the cause of the weight loss and inertia.
Waiting to know, waiting for treatment to begin, etc.is difficult. The biopsy in December showed something new and they are acting on that this week.
Monday we see yet another specialist and Tuesday brings another. Hopefully we will know something and have some direction by the time we leave on Wed.
I'll let you know when we have a course of treatment. Until then please keep those good thots and prayers coming.
We appreciate all the notes and words of kindness that so many of you have sent us; they give us a lot of comfort. Please don't stop!
Wish I were there in person to give each of you a great big bear hug and say thank you,
Jackie and John
